One in five Dutch people stay awake for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, according to research by bed manufacturer Auping.
Due to the time difference with Vancouver will be many Olympic games broadcast in the evening and at night. Yet this does not stop the Dutch from following the matches. Getting up a little later the day after an important Olympic match is very understandable for 22 percent. Men even go a step further, about 8 percent of them think their boss shouldn't whine if they show up for work later the next day.
Popular sports
Sports in which the Netherlands medal opportunities has are popular. Dutch people prefer to watch skating (44 percent) and bob sledding (20 per cent). Ice hockey is mainly followed by men and women watch figure skating more often.
Top three most sleep-inducing sports:
1. Curling (34 percent);
2. Cross-country skiing (22 percent);
3. Biathlon (16 percent).
