We don't eat too much, we move too little.
Stanford Medical School has studied data from the years 1988 to 2010. The conclusion is that our calorie intake has not changed much during this period.
Movement
It is our movement pattern that has changed a lot. In our spare time we do less and less physical activities. In 1988, 19 percent of women did not exercise in their free time. By 2010, that had risen to 52 percent. Furthermore, more and more people have a job in which they exercise little.
The solution?
It is possible to exercise more to 'compensate' your calorie intake, but that can be quite difficult if you do not have an active lifestyle. According to the director of the World Obesity Foundation, we could better adapt our diet to our sedentary lifestyle.
