Sugar plays an essential role for the proper functioning of our body because it contains carbohydrates that are necessary for our body. However, they are not to be confused with simple carbohydrates which, when consumed too much, become harmful to our health. These bad sugars are present in sodas, candy, alcohol and fast food. Too much consumption of simple carbohydrates can turn into an addiction and this can lead to diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular problems.
In order to have a healthy diet, you must first try to accustom your palate to the taste of salt more than that of sweet. To do this, avoid very sweet foods such as industrial pastries and candies. Then, by cooking with fresh products, you avoid a lot of foods that contain added sugars (even frozen vegetables). You should also be informed when buying food by reading the labels carefully. So when we read “sweeteners” and “added sugars” we can avoid these unnecessary carbohydrates. Finally in the morning it would be good to favor savory breakfasts, we can also replace our lack of sugar with hot drinks such as tea or herbal tea.
