You didn't know? Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory gynecological disease that causes, among other things, intense pain in the lower abdomen. In order to better understand, we must first know what the endometrium is. The endometrium is the lining that lines the inner walls of the uterus. During the cycle, and under the influence of estrogen, the endometrium thickens to accommodate a possible pregnancy. If there is no fertilization the endometrium is eliminated and evacuated, these are the rules. For a woman with this disease, tissue with the same characteristics as the endometrium grows outside the uterus, in abnormal locations; these are called endometriotic lesions.
