The headstand is a soothing yoga pose. Once you master it well, before then the pose can cause you quite a bit of frustration.
Why doesn't headstand work?
1. You are afraid to fall
Fear of falling, even if it is unconscious, will hinder you while practicing the headstand. Maybe your fear is justified, maybe not. You won't know it until you surrender to it. Practice the headstand against the wall first, so that you might dare to do it better.
2. Your base is not good
Place your forearms or palms (depending on which headstand you're doing) firmly on the floor. Take the time for good preparation.
3. Your body is not strong enough
To balance in the headstand you need strong arms and abs. Without strong muscles it is almost impossible to keep your balance.
4. You are crooked
To keep your balance, your hips should be above your shoulders, just like your feet. Do you keep falling over? Then ask your yoga teacher for instructions.
