1. Search close to home
We are looking forward to it and we are motivated, yet when push comes to shove, we don't feel like cycling or driving far to the gym. Therefore, it is preferable to find a gym close to home.
2. Take a trial lesson
Have you found some gyms in your area? Then request a trial lesson anywhere. The atmosphere within a gym can be very different. If you want to take group lessons, it is important to know what they are like. Preferably take the trial lesson at a time when you would normally exercise, so you get the best impression.
3. Ask yourself what you are going to use
All those perks sound nice, but you pay for them. It's a shame if you end up never using it. Conversely, you might be willing to pay a little more for a good and varied range of classes if you make use of it.
4. Check the contract
How long is the contract? What exactly is in the fine print? You wouldn't be the first to suddenly find yourself stuck with a 2.5-year contract.
5. Also ask yourself whether the gym is right for you
There are so many other sports. For some, you don't even need a gym or club. So look beyond the gym.
