Laziness is a natural trait. We unconsciously try to make as little effort as possible and to use our energy as economically as possible.
Better lazy than tired
That means that you tend to take the shortest route and that you would rather sit than stand. It's an unconscious that takes place in your brain. 'You have to be smart to be lazy,' says the researcher from Simon Fraser University.
The effect during exercise This subconscious process also continues during exercise. While running, your body ensures that you use as little energy as possible. Sometimes that's handy:if you're going to run twenty kilometers, it's nice that you have some energy left for the last kilometers. Would you like to lose weight? Then you would rather that your body uses energy less efficiently.
