They are usually congenital. The foot is called flat because it lacks the naturally present 'cavity' under the foot, so that the arch of the foot and therefore the foot completely touches the ground. With a healthy(er) foot you still have about a finger of space underneath.
This variant is very similar to flat feet. Here too there is no space under the foot. And here too, the arch of the foot rests completely on the ground. Sagging feet can develop throughout your life. Big difference with (congenital) flat feet? With sagging feet, the foot tilts inwards when you stand. And even a little further in when you put more strain on the feet. A flat foot doesn't . tilt inside.
A sagging foot can cause tired feet, among other things. And pain in the hips and/or knees. A podiatrist can see within seconds whether you might have sagging feet. A custom-made correction sole for your shoes can then offer help. The sole creates what your foot is missing:some more of that much-needed space under the foot.
