1. Make use of trial lessons
Many gyms offer free or affordable trial lessons. Classes with the same name may also vary by gym. That way you can discover whether certain classes suit you without being tied to a subscription.
2. Compare the prices of gyms nearby
The prices of gyms vary, so comparing prices is worth it. Consider gyms near work or on the way home from work. Check whether you can get a discount at a certain gym through your employer.
3. Keep an eye on promotions
Many gyms have regular promotions. For example, you can exercise for free for a number of months or you do not have to pay registration costs. Dare to ask if there will be a discount or promotion later in the month, who knows, maybe there is something to win. At some gyms you get a discount if a friend signs up through you, take advantage of it.
4. Know what you are paying for
It is a shame not to make the most of your gym subscription. Find out exactly what you're paying for. Perhaps you are entitled to a session from a personal trainer or you can use the sunbed for free. Do you only exercise during off-peak hours? You may be able to take out a cheaper subscription. And do you never go to group lessons? Perhaps there are subscriptions where you do not pay for lessons.

Check whether you are not tied to a subscription for an unwanted long time and whether there are other benefits, such as stopping your subscription when you go on holiday.
6. Calculate whether it is cheaper to pay at once
If you become a member for a year, you often get a discount, but if you don't start exercising regularly, it's still a waste of your money. Rather pay per month, quarter or even per time. Calculate which term is most advantageous for you.
7. Do not sign up at a gym
If you really want or need to save money, the best thing to do is to scrap the gym altogether. Download a running schedule, do exercises in the living room and skipping rope in the garden or park. Buying your own elliptical cross trainer can ultimately be cheaper than going to the gym especially for it.
