And for aesthetic treatments?
Whitening or certain gingival treatments are not reimbursed, as they are considered non-medical aesthetics. There you can negotiate. But beware of too sudden drops (in this case, the work may be sloppy, the products used less effective…).
We get several quotes.
For crowns or the placement of implants, the prices are free. The price of a ceramic crown can vary from 450€ to 1,000€. Before an intervention of this type, an estimate is mandatory. So we can very well, if we find that our dentist is too expensive, go see another one to ask him for an estimate. It is in Paris and in the Alpes-Maritimes that the rates are the highest (according to a study by the site mutuelle.com). If our dentist practices in Vendée, it is cheaper (on ameli.fr, the Social Security website, you can find the average price of care for each practice). And, in any case, we do not hesitate to have the estimate explained in detail:the prosthesis made in Asia will cost us less, but is it of the same quality as a made in France?
We pay cash.
Officially, you don't negotiate with your dentist. Most simply offer to spread the payments. But, in fact, we can, for the same service, obtain a substantial reduction in price if we pay in one go, even more if it is in cash... It is also common, if we have to ask ourselves five crowns, d ask for a free one. Yes!
