Decidedly, dogs really are our best friends... In addition to preventing us from allergies, boosting our sex appeal, detecting cancers, making us meet people and even filling our dishwasher (!), here we are! dogs would also have a great soothing power over us.
According to a study published in the journal "Preventive Chronic Disease" and conducted by US researchers from Bassett Medical Center, growing up with a dog reduces stress and anxiety in children. To reach this conclusion, scientists studied the well-being of 643 children aged 4 to 10 for 18 months.
Closing? Of the 58% of kids who owned a dog, only 12% showed signs of anxiety, compared to 21% of those who didn't have a big-eared pet. "Interaction with a friendly dog reduces cortisol levels, which decreases physiological responses to stress," the researchers explain.
What make us even more want to fall for a doggie. We want a dog!
