Indeed, researchers at Simon Fraser University , in Canada conducted a study of 94 women in a rural village in Guatemala. Different examinations were carried out on these women in 2000 and 13 years later. During these 13 years, they all had children, in greater or lesser number.
After all these years, scientists have found that women who have had the most children have kept longer telomeres and therefore age less quickly (the longer the telomeres, the less the person undergoes aging). In short, telomeres are found on the chromosomes of every human being and they carry all the information relating to everyone's DNA. We know that they tend to shorten with age but also with stress, so which means that if the telomeres are long, it is a sign of longevity but also of good health!
According to Professor Pablo Nepomnaschy , who led the study “The slower rate of telomere shortening observed in participants who have had many children may be explained by the dramatic increase in estrogen during pregnancies . And indeed, we know that this hormone, thanks to its antioxidant power, is known to protect cells from aging.
The researchers also put forward another theory that concerns the social environment of the women being researched. In the Native American culture, women who have many children tend to get help from other members of the community, which would boost their energy and keep them in good health since they are less subject to stress and fatigue.
So ladies, don't hesitate to get help from those around you... Especially if it's the key to longevity and it's scientifically proven!
