What if going green was the solution to all our health problems? A study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives found that living in an environment surrounded by greenery significantly reduced the risk of dying from cancer. We would be healthier and even live longer. Indeed, the vegetation absorbs part of the polluted air and contributes to reducing the noise pollution of daily urban life. The risk of dying from cancer or respiratory disease would decrease by 13% and 34% respectively. Not bad, right?
Researchers have also observed a link between nature and improved mental health. Living in a natural environment would be associated with a lower level of anxiety, stress and depression. Finally, being in contact with nature allows you to be close to gardens and parks, which encourages physical exercise (even if it's cold!) and helps break your loneliness. In short, only good!
