In France, nearly 90,000 cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year. This disease, if discovered early enough, can be cured. On the occasion of the 19th edition of Skin Cancer Prevention and Screening Week, which takes place from May 15 to 19, 2017, it is possible to be screened, via an appointment, completely free of charge. , as announced by the National Syndicate of Dermatologists-Venerologists (SNDV) on its website. In previous years, this screening operation took place over a single day, in screening centres. But this year, it is happening directly in the offices of nearly 300 dermatologists, the objective being to "raise awareness among a wider population", as explained by the SNDV.
The SNDV specifies that all the dermatologists who participate in this operation “carry out a free screening examination to look for skin cancer and not a free dermatology consultation. No act, treatment or prescription will therefore be issued. If a cancer was detected during the session, the doctor will have to provide an appointment form with another dermatologist. This screening operation is obviously very important, especially when we know of the 90,000 cases detected each year, some are cases of cutaneous melanoma, the most serious form of the disease. In 2015, out of 14,325 people who were affected by cutaneous melanoma, 1,773 died from it.
To make a screening appointment, there are two solutions:either on the Internet, on the dedicated site, or by telephone, on the toll-free number 0805 53 2017.
