This summer, the Caravan of the Red Cross is training in actions that save

“Every 10 minutes in France, a person dies of a heart attack. One in two households has been, or will be affected during the year, by a domestic accident. One in two people in the world is at risk of being affected at least once in their lifetime by a natural disaster. It's a fact:everyone, during their life, has been or will be confronted with an emergency situation, hence the need to be trained in first aid. And for this, the Red Cross, in partnership with the Hansaplast brand, will travel the roads of France in a caravan to make young and old aware of life-saving gestures. From July 8 to August 19, 2017, the Red Cross Summer Caravan will visit 18 cities:Amiens, Calais, Landerneau, Carantec, Royan, Toulouse, Royère-de-Vassivière, Bergerac, Saint-Malo, Bordeaux , Le Grau-du-Roi, Montpellier, Joue-lès-Tours, Marseille, Metz, Lyon, Beaune and Béziers. The inhabitants of each stage town as well as those of neighboring towns but also holidaymakers are invited to come and meet the volunteers who will offer four different initiations to choose from.

Entertainment for all ages

The initiation to First Aid (lasting 60 minutes) trains children and adults in simple but vital gestures that allow them to take care of the victim before help arrives. The introduction to Risk Reduction (50 minutes) offers the public to discover the measures that can best anticipate the risks associated with a disaster. For children, initiations to first aid are provided for 30 minutes. The children, grouped into age groups, are trained in first aid as well as the risks of everyday life, in the form of educational activities. Finally, people over 60 can take part in the “Well-being and autonomy” activity (45 minutes). On the program:awareness of domestic accidents, introduction to first aid and key factors contributing to well-being. Since its creation in 1999, 47,000 people have been introduced to life-saving gestures thanks to the Red Cross Summer Caravan. What if we were next?
