We already knew that coconut oil was a super ally for our hair, our skin and also our nails, but the BBC radio show Trust Me I'm A Doctor (Trust me, I'm a doctor in VF) proves today that it is also a great asset for health! The team recruited a hundred volunteers and divided them into three groups:the participants had to consume three tablespoons (about 50 g) of coconut oil, olive oil or butter every day for four weeks. At the end of the test, the results spoke for themselves…
People who ate 50 grams of butter every day (unsurprisingly!) saw their levels of bad cholesterol (called LDL) increase by 10%. The good news is that the levels of good cholesterol (HDL) of the individuals who took the olive oil test increased by 5%, and that of the coconut oil volunteers also increased. … but by 15% this time! It is this good cholesterol that allows the proper functioning of the heart and arteries, since it is transferred to the liver before being completely eliminated. The doctors who carried out this experiment don't really explain the results for the moment... But hey, we're not going to try to understand and we're not going to deprive ourselves, it's super good too!
