Walking all day in high heels, running. Your calves have a lot to endure. It is important to stretch your calves regularly. Shortened calf muscles can lead to nasty injuries.
Classic wall stretch
Put your hands against the wall. Step back with one leg. Bend your front knee while keeping the heel of your back foot on the floor. Make sure to keep your feet parallel. Switch legs after about 20 seconds.
Wall stretch 2
Stand close to the wall, facing the wall. Flex one foot and place your toes against the wall. Switch feet after 10 seconds.
Downfacing dog
This well-known yoga position is ideal for stretching your calves. Start from the plank and push your butt up toward the ceiling so that your body makes an inverted V. Make sure to keep your heels on the floor. Hold this pose for half a minute.
Toes towards you
Sit on the floor and pull your toes towards you. If necessary, use a band around the ball of your foot.
