The latest study on the effects of cigarettes will make us want to take a new resolution:YES this year, we quit smoking! Or we start vaping because it's 95% less worse than smoking... And above all:we avoid smokers when they have a cigarette, because passive smoking was also analyzed in this study, and its consequences are just as unwanted.
American researchers from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute have indeed followed 93,676 American smokers or exposed to passive smoking. After analyzing their smoking habits, fertility and the age at which their menopause naturally occurred, they came to several conclusions, published in the journal Tobacco Control . 1 / tobacco accelerates the onset of menopause before age 50 by 22 months in heavy smokers who started smoking before age 15, 2 / it accelerates it by 18 months in those who started smoking later, but who still consume more than 25 cigarettes a day, 3 / passive smokers exposed to cigarette smoke for a long time went through menopause 13 months earlier than average.
For scientists, it is the toxins present in smoke that disrupt hormonal activity… So to boost ourselves and keep our resolution, we draw inspiration from the experience of others. Our columnist tells us how she went 50 days without cigarettes… which finally allowed her to quit smoking and work on herself. “So I was smoking for two main reasons:1/ my lack of confidence and 2/ the need to find myself (i.e. to stop moving all the time, to push things back, etc. And according to a pharmacist and a doctor with whom I had already spoken, this is the case for most smokers. Everything is said:quitting smoking is also a path that helps to know yourself better (why do we really smoke…). And this year, it's decided, we don't know each other anymore, and we love each other...!
