Pregnant ? Drinking coffee is really not a good idea… Finally more than 2 cups daily, precisely. This is the result of a new American study published in the journal Fertility and Sterility. To reach this conclusion, the researchers analyzed data from 501 couples. In particular, they compared several factors (cigarettes, coffee or taking multivitamin supplements) among 344 couples in which the woman was pregnant.
During the study, 98 out of 344 women had a miscarriage. An event associated with the age of the mother when she is 35 or older. But not only:in addition to the age factor, it seems that moderate caffeine consumption is also associated with an increased risk of miscarriage.

These results confirm previous work. Indeed, caffeine had already been accused of altering the fetus during its development. A 2013 Scandinavian study of 60,000 pregnant women then showed that drinking 2 cups of coffee a day (200 mg of caffeine) also increases the risk that the child will be born with a low birth weight. Note that international recommendations allow up to 3 cups per day (300 mg). We are therefore reviewing them downwards!
