If you want to start with yoga it takes some getting used to the different terms that are used.
Asanas are the different yoga postures. It is part of hatha yoga. You hold the poses for a while and develop flexibility, balance and endurance. The yoga poses have a soothing effect on your body:you let go of muscles that you have been unconsciously tensing all day, you stretch other muscles, so that you also release tension. You connect body and mind. As you do the asanas more often, the poses become easier to maintain and you can meditate more easily during the asanas. Learn more about asanas.
