What's this ? About the size of a lentil, canker sores are small whitish-looking ulcerations that disappear naturally in about ten days. Nothing serious, except that it hurts like hell when you chew, especially the first 5 days.
Why do I have it? Surprising, but we do not know the causes of these localized lesions on the gums, tongue, or cheeks. On the other hand, certain factors predispose to their appearance:foods (nuts, cooked cheeses such as Gruyère, kiwi, spices), a state of great fatigue or stress, menstruation, or injuries due to a prosthesis (or crown) ill-fitting.
And to relieve? No miracle cure. But to reduce the pain of the first days, some analgesic products soothe the burning sensation. Over-the-counter, in the form of a gel (Pansoral), mouthwash (Pyralvex) or suckable tablets (Lysopaïne), they contain contact anesthetics. If the canker sores are very large or very frequent, you can also have the wounds cauterized by your dentist.
