In summer we are prone to sunbathing and lazing around even if, as we know, ultraviolet rays are dangerous for the skin. By exposing yourself too much, you risk getting nasty sunburns or even worse, skin cancer. In particular melanomas, this rare form of skin cancer, representing 4% of cases, but which are very aggressive. The figures can attest to this:nearly 80% of patients affected by this disease die from it. So to help us better protect ourselves, the Gustave Roussy Institute, Europe's leading cancer center, has developed a new application:iSkin.
This app has different features. It allows us to take pictures of our moles, our skin spots and to keep a logbook which helps our doctor to establish a diagnosis. As a reminder, it is advisable to take pictures regularly (and we are not talking about selfies!). Another tab allows you to find out about the latest scientific advances with all the clinical trials in progress in the territory. It also recalls the best practices to adopt. We can also locate a dermatologist quickly, whether near our home or on the go. Finally, a last tab allows you to make a donation to fight against the development of melanoma. That way, we can even do our good deed of the day!
Be careful, we do not forget that this application, although practical, in no way replaces a consultation with a dermatologist. So in case of doubt, it is to him that we turn because only he can establish a reliable diagnosis.
