More and more devotees are joining the ranks of yoga class foam mats every year. Celebrities (now nicknamed “yogalébrités”, yes, yes…) or anonymous, the practice, whose benefits are felt both in body and mind, does not only appeal to the younger generations. And Täo Porchon-Lynch is the proof:the New Yorker is the oldest yoga teacher in the world, and for good reason… she is 98 years old and one hell of a peach! Having become a phenomenon on social networks (she has more than 17,000 subscribers on Facebook), this grandmother like no other rose to fame in 2012 after a photographer, in disbelief, immortalized her doing her exercises in Central Park. The pictures have gone around the web... But it is above all her atypical personality that has made Täo a sensation:the old lady, who always has her fingernails painted and wears big earrings, affirms that she never drinks water and swears by wine and tea!
Her passion for yoga was born in her country of origin, India:at the age of 8, she noticed a group of men doing contortions on the beach. “I went to see my aunt and asked her, 'Can I join them? ". She replied, "It's not a game, it's yoga and it's not for well-behaved girls." So I started doing it “, she tells the New York Times . A rebel soul, you say? Today, Täo Porchon-Lynch provides her 5 classes a week despite 3 hip replacement operations… She even appeared in 2015 at the tele-hook America’s Got Talent where she gave an incredible dance performance in the company of a 26-year-old dancer... And as she says herself, "in my head, I'm still 20 years old, and I haven't at all intend to grow .
That's what we call a rocking granny!
