They are called Olivia Arie, Shiloh Iman and Sanaa Ali and were born on September 10th. Their mom, Kayla Richardson, gave birth to them at just 24 weeks and six days pregnant at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in New Haven, Connecticut. What's special about these adorable triplets? Internet users were able to follow their progress on Instagram.
Their mum, who had a difficult pregnancy, spent two weeks in the hospital before giving birth. To pass the time and find comfort, she browsed many blogs of parents of premature children. This is how she got the idea to create her own Instagram account. "I remember going to a woman's Instagram every day to see if she had posted anything new about her twins. They were born at 24 weeks and seeing their progress proved to me that my daughters had a chance of surviving,” Kayla told Huffington Post US .
When they were born, Olivia Arie, Shiloh Iman and Sanaa Ali weighed only 450 grams. Placed in incubators, they were connected to tubes, to probes and Kayla could not hold them in her arms until two months later. A moment she will never forget:"I felt at peace," she said. Today, the little girls are still on life support but have returned home. We wish them a good start to 2017!
