Tamagotchis were immensely popular in the 1990s. You had to feed the digital beast to keep it alive. Nowadays you can just do this in an app. This is done in a very special way in the Tep app. You have to exercise first before you can feed your virtual pet.
Tep tracks your activities using GPS or you can connect your Fitbit or Jawbone to it. With your workouts, you collect coins that you can use to buy food for Tep. You can also buy clothes and new wallpapers. Not moved enough? Then your sweet giraffe must be starving through your fault.
