According to a study by Inpes , almost one in two French people believe they lack sleep. The reason ? Very often, a schedule that does not allow you to get enough sleep. Between professional life and family life, there is unfortunately little time left to fall into the arms of Morpheus. The result of this lack is, in general, quickly felt:irritability, lack of concentration, severe fatigue... the list of inconveniences can be very long. This is where the nap comes in. Quickly, it can recharge the batteries...
A micro nap at your workplace
Because it would be unthinkable to leave your office in the middle of the day to go to sleep for an hour and a half, here is an idea that could be quite possible:the micro-nap. In Japan, some bosses even impose it on their employees. Despite its very short duration, the micro-nap has immense benefits. It gives you the energy you need to finish your day and stay focused... and lasts only 5 to 10 minutes! Some sleep experts even go as far as 20 minutes, but certainly not more, because that is precisely the principle of the micro-nap:it must be kept short. As a result, we do not enter a deep sleep phase. We only go through the first two stages of sleep:drowsiness and light sleep. The advantage? We reboost and wake up easily. Ideal for the office, to get back to work immediately. If your company does not offer you a place to lie down, you can take a seated micro-nap (this position is also recommended if you do not want to fall asleep for too long). Because what matters is not the position but the fact of isolating yourself and putting yourself in peace. Once alone, all you have to do is relax. "The best thing is to uncross your arms and legs, close your eyes, gradually slow down your breathing, along with the rhythm of your thoughts, and relax all the muscles of your body," explains Bruno Comby, author of the book L praise of the siesta. And if you can't find a place to be alone, consider the bathroom. Not very cozy but unstoppable.
A longer nap at the weekend
The micro-nap is not the only effective one. The classic nap, much like that taken by young children, is just as beneficial. It obviously lasts longer, between 60 and 90 minutes. You can therefore only do it at home, during your days off. That is to say, the weekend. If you have children, you can simply take a nap at the same time as them... With the classic nap you will go through all the phases of sleep, including the deepest. Also, do not plan anything immediately afterwards because you will be slightly stunned. You will be even more so if your nap only say half an hour or an hour because you will not have slept during a complete sleep cycle and your body will have a little trouble getting back to work when you wake up... The nap ideal the weekend should therefore last an hour and a half. If you start doing it, you'll soon start to appreciate the health benefits:you'll be less stressed, you'll improve your memory, your digestion will be better, your mood too... and you'll be able to afford to sleep less at night (while remaining reasonable, of course). What assets! When are you getting started?
