How to limit the harmful effects of pollution?

With depolluting plants

Did you know that air pollution is more dreadful indoors than outdoors? Perfectly. The latter is 5 to 10 times more polluted inside… than outside! Knowing that we spend, on average, 80% of our time locked up... it makes you think. If daily ventilation of all rooms for at least 30 minutes is essential (even in winter), other solutions can effectively purify the air. Like depolluting plants. These little wonders of nature absorb a good part of the harmful substances floating in the atmosphere. Why not have a few in your house? The fern is the most competent of them. It effectively fights against pollution caused by cleaning products. The ficus (which we have all adopted at least once in our lives) is also one of these very useful plants. Its action is mainly aimed at cigarette smoke, varnishes or air fresheners. Ivy, too, knows how to help... There are many depolluting plants and each has their own specialities. They all have a different look, so you will easily find the one you want to have at home. Be careful not to be scared off by their complicated name! Azalea, philodendron, chrysanthemum, croton, areca, anthurium, calathea, dieffenbachia, dracaena, spathiphyllum… are all easy to care for plants. Adopt one or more without hesitation...

With an air purifier

Less natural than depolluting plants but just as effective, the air purifier by filtration can be an ally of choice in your fight against pollution. The best is to opt for a HEPA filter purifier, a high density filter that is 100 finer than a conventional filter. Even if there are other types of purifiers (activated carbon, electronic, electrostatic or ionizer filter), this one is the most effective. Especially if the goal is to avoid asthma and allergies. The air purifier is a plug-in device. It takes between 250 and 400 euros for a purifier that sanitizes up to 70 m2. Less expensive (and less powerful) exist but cover less surface. Knowing that you will probably need several for a fireplace... to see if they are really economical.

With a Himalayan salt crystal lamp

Have you ever heard of negative ions and positive ions? If the first are good for health, the second (when they are in too large quantities) lead to physical (headaches, insomnia) and psychological (anxiety, depression) disturbances. Air pollution, particularly present in cities, destroys negative ions. Also in urban areas there is too much positive ion. The solution ? A salt crystal lamp… or even several, in the house. These small pink lamps, found in most organic stores, emit negative ions and thus help to balance the atmosphere. In addition, their light is incredibly restful…. (€16.68 from Greenweez.com)

By filtering its water

Drinking tap water has many benefits. It's more environmentally friendly (no plastic bottles are used), more practical and above all, more economical. If the latter is rather of good quality in France, it may contain residues of chemical products… You can perfect its purification by filtering it. Several filtration methods are possible. It's up to you to adopt the one that suits you. The most natural is filtration with vegetable activated carbon. The latter acts by absorbing harmful molecules that would still be present in the water despite filtration and purification and in addition, releases minerals. The Eau Good brand offers a refillable bottle with a filter called Binchotan that lasts up to six months if one drinks a liter a day. (17.63 euros on Amazon) Filtering the water via a water purifier installed directly on the tap remains the most practical method. The purifier is attached and the flowing water is directly purified. The Brita brand suggest one. (55.99 euros on Brita.fr) As for the carafe method, it is the most widespread:the water purifier is on the latter and acts when it is filled. Again, Brita is the reference. Just buy the carafe (from 20.49 euros on Brita.fr) as well as disposable cartridges for about a month each (49.99 euros for 12 on Brita.fr).

With depolluting cosmetics

You must have noticed that in addition to being harmful to your health, pollution also harms your beauty. Oxidative stress and free radicals… unfortunately you know the song. So can you testify:your skin is abused daily and you spend your time fighting against bad looks. If you adapted your beauty products to the needs of your skin? You would be more effective in the care that you lavish on her… A line of cosmetics dedicated to urban women has just been launched. Her name is Noxidoxi and it is extremely efficient. Five products are already available:a boosting mist that acts as a shield (their flagship product), a lip pen that hydrates and reduces fine lines, an anti-aging face cream (which smells divine), a scrub- mask to make new skin as well as a serum (with a very practical foam tip). Noxidoxi products are present in most parapharmacies and their price is quite affordable (between 20 and 42.50 euros).
