Are over-the-counter medications effective?

Painkiller.

The big winner is paracetamol, with a better efficacy/tolerance ratio than ibuprofen or aspirin. We choose:Doliprane 500mg in tablets (18/20), against painful menstruation, fever, headache, back pain, throat pain (lozenges, sucking tablets, etc. being totally ineffective).

Mycosis of the feet.

All econazole anti-fungal skin treatments achieve excellent results. We choose:Dermazol Gé 1% cream (18/20).

Constipation.

In self-medication, mild laxatives are well suited. With scores between 12 and 16/20, they are quite effective and well tolerated.
We choose:Macrogol 4000 Mylan 10g powder (16/20). On the other hand, we avoid stimulant laxatives (which are irritating).

Anti-cough.

With scores ranging from 2 to 14/20, it's a jungle to navigate! We choose:Syrup
Dextrocidin (14/20). You can zap bronchial thinners with almost zero action, with scores that peak at 6/20.

Heartburn.

No disappointment with stomach dressings, the vast majority of which are quite effective and well tolerated. We choose:Maalox stomach pain without sugar (12/20).

Aches.

In the category of muscle pain relievers, no product gets more than 11/20. If they have a rather low efficiency, they are rather well tolerated. We choose:Baume Aroma. Anti-
cramp products? An unnecessary expense, none exceed 8/20.

Caution.

In all cases, we take all the usual precautions (by scrupulously following the instructions for use, the contraindications) and we refrain from self-medication for children, the elderly, pregnant women. or who are breastfeeding.
