Recognized for its energizing and stimulating properties, coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world. But did you know that too much caffeine consumption can have harmful consequences on the body and even a risk of contracting diseases? Many scientists have been carrying out analyzes for several years to find out what are the beneficial and destructive effects of this popular drink. The latest reveals that you should drink four cups of coffee a day maximum.
American scientists demonstrated in a study published Friday, April 21, 2017 in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology that adults should not consume more than 400 mg of coffee per day, the equivalent of four cups. Beyond that, the risks of contracting cardiovascular, psycho-behavioral and neurological diseases would be too great. It is also the ideal dose to reap all the benefits of caffeine! Consuming four cups a day could protect us against the risks of developing cancer, diabetes, cirrhosis, blood sugar, migraines, and even reduce memory problems.
The study specifies that, for pregnant women, the recommended daily dose would be only three cups. As for teenagers, they also have the right to this little pleasure, but up to 2.5 grams per day. Please note, however, that caffeine sensitization differs from person to person. When for some of us, the exciting effect occurs from the first cup, for others, it will take several coffees to feel the fatigue disappear. This is one of the reasons that led scientists to carry out further research on the subject. They now want to focus on people most sensitive to caffeine, with certain pathologies, in order to identify all the effects of coffee.
