What? SUP, a new water sport where you propel yourself standing on a board with the help of a paddle. A kind of combination of surfing and canoeing.
The advantage:it is a lot easier than surfing and the view standing from the plank is a lot better than sitting from a canoe. During the SUP you have to continuously use your muscles to stay upright and you also have to paddle. A complete workout!
For whom? For everyone. Supping is easy to learn and even for the less sporty types fine to do. The boards are very stable and you don't need a great board feeling to stay dry.
And? Nice! After supping I not only feel satisfied, I am also wonderfully relaxed and even got a tan in the sun. Ideal for those who like to try water sports want to do, but don't feel like taking hours of lessons. Muscle pain I do have the next day, especially in my arms and stomach. I wouldn't call myself a sports talent at all, but this went well for me and I didn't even fall into the water.
Where? Lakes, rivers, canals and ditches.. If yourself a board and paddle you can really do supping everywhere where there is water. If you just want to paddle occasionally, you can go to various surf shops and surf schools that rent out boards and paddles and organize clinics.
Also fun to participate in is the Naish SUP tour † During this tour you can get acquainted with the basics of Suppen on different days and locations and of course get on the water yourself.
