After ballerina Avital Zeisler was confronted with sexual violence, she turned her life around. She developed her own program in which she gives (self-defense) tips to protect yourself against sexual violence.
Tip 1:Look around you
When you're busy with your phone wearing earbuds, you're a more attractive victim. When you do your run in the morning or cycle home in the evening, you better look around you. Who are all on the street? If you see a situation you don't trust, look around you for an 'escape route'.
Tip 2:Imagine how you would react
Nobody wants to imagine what it's like to be attacked and assaulted, but according to Avital it can be useful to imagine it. Consider how you would respond and whether that is the best way. The best response:keep calm, find an escape route and only use force in an emergency.
Tip 3:Violence is the last resort
If you see no way to escape, you can use force. It is best to surprise your attacker with this so that he is distracted and you can escape. A kick at groin and groin height is often effective. To feel more confident about yourself, take a few self-defense classes.
