This is good news . Research around the disease of endometriosis progress after years in which we were floundering. This disease, which affects one in ten women was until then a great mystery for the majority of the population . Today, American researchers have succeeded in pinpointing the responsible gene of this chronic disease that poisons the lives of those who suffer from it . These researchers from the University of Oxford , Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, pharmaceutical giant Bayer AG and the University of Wisconsin-Madison discovered the NPSR1 gene .
After identifying the gene using sequencing, researchers investigated how it was possible to reduce abdominal pain . Indeed, until now, there was no treatment (if not hormonal, i.e. the pill or surgery) to overcome the pain caused by endometriosis . In addition to being a true step forward , this discovery is the basis of a significant hope:a non-hormonal treatment . “The NPSR1 SHA 68R inhibitor led to a reduction in cellular infiltrate inflammation and pain in mouse models of peritoneal inflammation and endometriosis. Although further studies in non-human primates are needed, the results give hope a non-hormonal treatment for endometriosis” can we read.
We remain hopeful. In the meantime, take care of yourself.
