Tasha Sturm, a microbiology technician at the University of Cabrillo (California), had the good idea to capture the small bacteria from her son's hands and make a snapshot of them that has been viewed more than 2 million times on the Imgur social network, June 7.
To do her experiment, she asked her son to put his fingerprint in a Petri dish which she covered with a little Agar Agar jelly in order to feed the bacteria. After placing the print in an incubator which warmed it to human body temperature, the bacteria grew until the result in the photo was obtained.
But don't panic, your little toddlers risk nothing serious by not washing their hands. Bacteria are not bad for your health, "our immune system is enough to protect us", explains Tasha Sturm. Keep a copy of this photo anyway, it can always be useful if your children don't obey you...
