Nothing could be more normal than dressing up your smartphone with a pretty cover, and we have to admit that the protections with lots of moving sequins really catch our eye… The only (huge) problem? The shimmering liquid in the shell is poisonous. Suddenly, if it cracks, it can cause serious chemical burns and leave scars for life. The company MixBin Electronics, one of the best-known manufacturers of this kind of protection (distributed mainly on Amazon), has therefore just recalled its products after 24 cases have been identified. Creepy!
The hulls were sold by the thousands:thus more than 275,000 copies were sold throughout Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States. The symptoms are almost as diverse as the number of hulls sold! Well, ok, we are exaggerating but the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, which has identified the cases, reported in a press release some specific symptoms:“permanent scars due to chemical burns, swelling in the leg, face, neck , chest, upper body and hands. How do you know if you have a potentially dangerous shell? The commission posted a list of the offending products online, including Victoria's Secret cases. Good to know:if you are concerned, it is possible to get a refund.
Well, a shell without glitter is good too...
