Yvonne (29) is training for the Zuiderzee Classic. On September 28, 2013, she cycled 220 kilometers. She blogs about her preparations for Sante.nl.
Yvonne :In the meantime I'm already quite a few kilometers further. Last week I made a little less miles than I wanted. Last weekend I came home after a 120 kilometer tour from Soest and my house was full of family and friends, surprise! Because I turned 30, Werner had organized a party with my friends, really great! That turned out to be a bit late, so I didn't feel like cycling on Sunday.
Four weeks before the grand finale
On Monday I did my best on the spinning with the workout followed by a bit of running. The off-road duathlon circuit will start again from October, which is a combination of mountain biking and running. The running muscles also need some attention again. But the cycling muscles the most. Four more weeks to go and then it's time. I wonder what it will be like:with or without wind against the dike? Rain or dry? Good legs or not? Anyway, cycling out that happens anyway. That should work with my teamies.
They are also training hard. While I am writing this, Jacomina is working on the Ultra-trail du Mont Blanc, a 168 km (running) route with 9600 vertical meters. Yes, it really is that many miles, unbelievable. Bitch she is! Eline is also doing well:on 22 July she finished her first full triathlon in Roth, Germany. It contains 180 km of racing bikes. Add another 40 km and you have the Zuiderzee Classic distance. And Eline now has two eighth triathlons on the program. Sigrid has been mountain biking a bit more recently, because she had a competition coming up. She finished in the middle of the standings among the men, okay? And as training, she recently did a 200 km round IJsselmeer.
When I write all this down, I almost get the feeling that I am not training enough. Think it'll be okay. Last night after work I cycled 97 km and I am going for a run in the woods. Sitting on a saddle is not good for a while because I have a painful chafing spot on the inside of my thigh, sustained during a tour last week. Probably due to sweating and friction between skin, pants and saddle. Then train in a different way. I am now going to finish the planning for the next four weeks; a few more long tours, spinning lessons and cycling training from my association Hellas (triathlon) and then we are ready!
