An Ayurvedic massage professional always begins his session with a series of questions and observations. The purpose of this interview:to determine your dominant dosha and thus work on your imbalances.
This check-up includes pulse measurement, examination of the tongue, eyes, skin and hands to your medical history. The masseur also asks about the quality of your sleep, your digestion, your eating habits, your psychological and physical state.
Once the interview is over, the masseur will choose the massage that best suits your temperament:air (Vat), water (Kaph) or fire (Pitt).
According to his preferences, the massaged can choose either to keep his underwear or to be massaged naked. You can ask for a disposable thong or to be covered with a light veil. Rest assured:Ayurvedic massage is not sexual, even if it happens that it increases the libido. In a beauty salon, Ayurvedic massage usually takes place on a massage table. Traditionally, however, it is on the ground on mats that this relaxation technique is practiced. As massage oil, an edible oil such as sesame or coconut oil is often used. Some masseurs sometimes replace them with essential oils, appreciated for their medicinal properties.
The duration and price of an Indian massage practiced in a beauty salon vary from one masseur to another. The price range is between 50 and 110 euros for an average duration of 60 minutes. Several sessions may be necessary to register and maintain a calming of the body and mind. Please note:the Ayurvedic massage is not reimbursed by social security and complementary health insurance.
After the session, a good masseur will offer you a large glass of water. Even better:an Ayurvedic tea or a cup of hot water to drink in small sips to prolong the state of relaxation. It is recommended to continue with a relaxing activity, or even to end the day at home, in peace. Drink plenty of water to improve the elimination of toxins. While most people feel relaxed after an Ayurvedic massage, others may feel very energized. Still others may feel sadness or a state of depression, due to the rebalancing of bodily energies. You have to see this temporary change in mood as a positive sign of an inner work in progress.
