Also called Abhyanga massage, Ayurvedic massage comes from traditional Indian medicine. Along with yoga, meditation, aromatherapy and herbal medicine, Ayurvedic massage is one of the pillars of oriental medicine. In Sanskrit, the term “Ayurveda” means “science of longevity”. Ayurvedic philosophy is based on the notion of a balance of the source elements of our well-being. This school of thought distinguishes three elements:air (Vat, which relates to hormones and nerves), water (Kaph, which designates all the liquids of the human body) and fire (Pitt, which refers to enzymes and to the digestive system). When these three elements are not balanced, the individual can present an interior, physical or psychological disorder. It will then be a question of driving out the "evil" by draining a part of the body or the whole body.
This well-being massage is based on 7 energy centers, also known as “chakras”. Using sesame oil or a blend of essential oils, the masseur focuses on the marmas or 107 energy points. Accupression, kneading, rubbing or friction:by stimulating these strategic points, the masseur will allow Prana – vital energy – to circulate smoothly in the body. Circular movements but also stretching are to be expected. Result:complete well-being of body and mind, a feeling of harmony that spreads throughout the body. If you travel to India, you may be given a variation of Ayurvedic massage called Vishesh, the invigorating version of Ayurveda.
Everyone, especially nervous, tense people, such as Vata dominant people. By increasing our vital energy, Ayurvedic massage improves our resistance to stress and facilitates our access to well-being. In a few sessions, the “patients” say they notice a greater ability to concentrate and better manage their emotions. To start, we recommend practicing yoga and extending these massages at home, with your partner for example.
As with Chinese massage, we no longer demonstrate the benefits of Ayurvedic massage on our well-being. As said above, this relaxation technique is able to strengthen the mind in the space of a few sessions. Extremely relaxing, this massage is also a very good preparation for meditation. On a physical level, Ayurvedic massage is renowned for its draining and detoxifying properties:it is said to improve blood circulation and strengthen the lymphatic system. Even better:some studies have shown the effectiveness of the Ayurvedic method in strengthening the immune system.
Finally, thanks to the massage and the use of quality essential and/or vegetable oils, the skin is more beautiful, firmer.
