While winter and its freshness release our happiness hormones (endorphins) and improve blood circulation. The heat could well be our worst enemy. Indeed, when it is hot, beyond sweating and losing all our sex appeal, our brain works less well and that would make us stupid and in a bad mood. It was discovered by researchers at the University of Michigan in 2004, while trying to find out whether the sun was a source of happiness or not. They found that people who stayed in the sun too regularly were quickly irritable, unlike people with less sun exposure.
The dehydration that can be caused during periods of high heat prevents the brain from functioning properly. Because when it is hot, our body needs more blood to cool down and the brain ends up running out of it, which makes it difficult to oxygenate itself. When the brain lacks oxygen, according to its scientists, we tend to react too impulsively. Moreover, it leads to fatigue and makes us sluggish beings. This is why it is very important to stay well hydrated in case of high heat!
