You may have wondered what burns more calories:running outside or running on the treadmill.
According to John Porcari, director of the Clinical Exercise Physiology program, running outdoors burns more calories. That's because you have more resistance outside:an uneven road surface, wind, different weather conditions… Running outside would burn about 3 to 7 percent extra calories.
Others claim that you don't burn on the treadmill because people more often opt for interval training.
How many calories you burn depends on several factors, don't let your choice for outdoor running or the treadmill depend on it.
