A strong core has quite a few advantages. You get a better posture, get more out of your workouts and reduce back pain and injuries.
Christina &Heidy run together Studio C Online, the online sports platform for women. Every month they share a favorite workout in Santé and on Sante.nl.
Christina:“Your core consists of 29 muscles in your abdomen, pelvic area and back. Together they help you with every movement you perform:carrying a heavy shopping bag or lifting your child, but also with walking, standing and sitting.”
Heidy:“Our bodies are made to move. But nowadays we sit a lot. As a result, we develop a wrong body posture without realizing it. This is often the cause of (back) complaints and injuries.”
Christina:“By training your core muscles, you relieve your spine and develop a correct posture. Because your core muscles are all connected, it is important that they work well together. And that is exactly what you train with this workout.”
Heidy:“Strong core muscles also help you with your workouts. In strength exercises, for example, a strong core ensures that you keep your upper body still like a block. This allows you to perform the exercises with maximum control, which increases the efficiency of your movement.”
Christina:“With a strong core you look slimmer and you feel powerful and confident. Delicious, right?”
