A recent study by professors at Boston University's School of Public Health looked at the time of year when women wanting a child are most likely to become pregnant.
Published in the very serious magazine Human Reproduction and conducted using data from 14,331 women from the United States, Canada and Denmark who had tried to conceive for less than six months, the study therefore had a clear objective:to try to determine the "ideal period of design while taking into account the moment during which the couples make the decision to launch. "Honey let's get started!" »
To do this, the participants - who have all become mothers - were followed every two months until their pregnancy via questionnaires aimed at communicating information relating to their lifestyle (frequency of sexual intercourse, menstrual cycles, smoking, food, financial income, etc.). Result! At the end of these analyses, a peak in rapid conceptions was observed over a period extending from the end of November to the beginning of December.
So why would this short period favor the occurrence of a pregnancy? According to researchers from Boston University, the weather factor would maximize the chances of fertility. They have indeed observed peaks in conception in the countries studied with a common climate. By meteorological factor, it is obviously the outside temperature, the humidity of the air, the rate of sunshine, the vitamin D intake but also other less natural factors such as pollution; a set of factors that would therefore have an influence on fertility.
Moreover, these results did not change significantly after taking into account criteria such as the frequency of sexual intercourse, the consumption of sugary drinks or smoking, the study authors said. For those wishing to get pregnant this year, do not hesitate to put an alert in your diary on November 23rd and therefore have fun under the duvet for two weeks.
